The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room A at the library on Monday, January 8, 2018. President Bill Menendez called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. Board members in attendance were Christine Bergren, Lee Fluck, Holly McAvoy, Paul Pardo and Ray Rogers. Deb Wyffels, Assistant Director, was also present.
No citizens were present.
The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.
The Financial Report was reviewed and will be filed for the auditors. Paul made a motion to pay the bills, Lee seconded the motion, and the board unanimously agreed to the motion by roll call vote.
Please refer to Claire’s written report. Not included in her report was the news that she applied to attend a conference in Denver regarding the future of youth in libraries. Only one librarian from each state could go, and Claire will represent Illinois. It is a three-day seminar in which air fare, hotel and food are paid for.
Claire has been given a written copy of her annual evaluation. Once she has had time to review it, she will sign it and return it to Bill.
SS Masonry came to prepare a bid for the cost of putting in an emergency exit in the north wall of the library. Another security issue, the installation of a hidden button to press to alert the Police, has been looked into and a bid from OnGuard will quote the library for two buttons.
A representative of Carpentier Marshall Goddard & Company distributed copies of the Annual Financial Report and briefly explained it. A clean opinion letter was included.
The Per Capita Grant requires that all library trustees watch a YouTube video on autism to better understand this issue.
Has been added to the library’s policy manual and is available on line.
With no further matters before the board, at 7:23 p.m., the meeting adjourned.
