Board of Trustees Meeting
January 13, 2025

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room A at the library on Monday, January 13, 2025. Karen Turner called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. Members in attendance were Karen Cathelyn, Lee Fluck, Jim Henson and Monica Vorac.

Citizen’s Input Christine Illichmann was present.

Secretary’s Report The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid Monica moved to pay the current bills. Karen C. seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote. Karen C. moved to approve the Financial Report. Karen T. seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

Happenings at the Library We participated in the Angel Tree with Hillcrest Home again this year. Local artist Jamie Sullivan, who works as TreBella Art, has created a six-sculpture series which our library will host for the first half of the year. The sculpture will be constructed near the entrance of the library soon. Visitors to the library are encouraged to leave a note digitally on the Geocaching.com app.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Updates The Geneseo Foundation has asked us to resubmit our request for a donation for the Reading Garden this year. A project through the Illinois Arts is in the plans; we hope to get interviews with two notable locals about their roles in Geneseo history. Claire will work out the details on this.

NEW BUSINESS

Retirement Mary Jayne Nash leaves us after 28 years with the library on January 17. We wish her well. Kari Jost is also cutting her hours back.

Donations We received several large donations for the Reading Garden before the end of the fiscal year, and those pushed us to about half-way to our goal. Our architect thinks the cost of the project will be even less than what he had projected.

Adjournment With no further business before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
