Board of Trustees Meeting
July 8, 2024

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room A at the library on Monday, July 8, 2024. Board President Karen Turner called the meeting to order at 6:26 p.m. Members in attendance were Karen Cathelyn, Lee Fluck, Jim Henson, Janet Klavohn and Ann Lobdell.

Citizen’s Input Holly Hessenkemper, Katie Clark and David Jost were present but did not request to address the board.

Secretary’s Report The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid Karen T. moved to pay the current bills. Ann seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote. Karen C. moved to approve the Financial Report. Ann seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

Happenings at the Library There are two new chairs for the table by the North window. A Per Capita Grant of $19,266 was received from the State of Illinois. The patrons love the new computers. Blackhawk College has a program in which we may be able to have the concrete poured for the Reading Garden that will save us money. The Summer Reading Program is going great. Steve’s Nursery has added more flowers and patrons love them.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Children’s Room The new table is in. The committee will be meeting again soon.

Reading Garden Pat Mahar staked out where the fence will be.

Fence The fencing company has not been able to install the fence yet.

NEW BUSINESS

Outdoor Lights New lights were installed and some adjustments were made.

Technology Ann made a motion to accept the new WiFi policy that computer users must agree to before accessing computers; Karen C. seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote. It was agreed that outdoor access (in the parking lot) would be available 24/7 to accommodate our patrons when the library is closed. A motion to replace the Circulation Desk computers and to implement a file storage device to provide a central location to house daily operation files was made by Ann; seconded by Karen C. and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

Budget The budget for the new fiscal year was presented last month. Karen C. made a motion to accept the new annual budget; Ann seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

The Board went into Executive Session at 7:13 p.m. No actions were taken. At 7:40 p.m. the Board came out of Executive Session and adjourned.

Adjournment With no further business before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
