Geneseo Public Library District 
Board of Trustees Meeting 
June 12, 2023

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room A at the library on Monday, June 12, 2023. Board President Karen Turner called the meeting to order at 6:29 p.m. Members in attendance were Karen Cathelyn, Lee Fluck, Janet Klavohn, Carol Luciani and Monica Vorac.

Citizen’s Input    No citizens were present.

Secretary’s Report   The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid    Carol moved to pay the current bills. Karen C. seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote. Karen T. moved to approve the Financial Report. Monica seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

Happenings at the Library    The Summer Reading Program got donations from Geneseo Communications for $500 and Dollar General for $2,250.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Security System     Bids for a Security System were reviewed. Lee moved to accept the bid from IronClad IT of $17,551.38 for a system plus the costs of 1) a proposed rack that was discussed and 2) the power back up system. Carol seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

Christmas Party    Will be held on June 25 since in December, members are busy with family and there is the threat of illness.

NEW BUSINESS

Budget      Our fiscal year begins on July 1, 2023. A Tentative Budget was presented by Jim. Lee moved to accept the budget. It should be noted that a 5% raise for library employees (but not Claire) is included in the Tentative Budget. Karen T. seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

Prevailing Wage/Building & Maintenance Tax      Karen C. moved to accept Prevailing Wage. Monica seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote. Carol moved to accept the Building & Maintenance Tax. Karen T. seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

Adjournment       With no further business before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
