Board of Trustees Meeting
March 13, 2023
The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room A at the library on Monday, March 13, 2023. Board President Karen Turner called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Members in attendance were Karen Cathelyn, Lee Fluck, Carol Luciani and Ray Rogers.
Citizen’s Input No citizens were present.
Secretary’s Report The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed. A letter of resignation from Sonja Nordstrom was read aloud. Janice Roome purchased/donated four pairs of the SWM bookends in honor of Joni Beck. A letter from Mary Jayne Nash regarding the Children’s Section was read.
Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid Ray made a motion to pay the current bills. Lee seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote. Karen T. moved to approve the Financial Report. Carol seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.
Happenings at the Library The Library received $100 because Claire completed a survey from the Illinois Humanities. The plaque for the butterfly sculpture is complete and will be installed soon.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Building Library Consultant Frederick Schlipf recommended that the Board to put the Reading Garden on the South side of the building.
Bookends Sheila is working on the bookends.
NEW BUSINESS
Reading Garden No action was taken; it is part of the Library’s Long-Range Goals.
Grant Received $1,000 from the Bill and Susan Sherrard Foundation, to be used for lifelong learning. Four hundred dollars was received for the purchase of SWM bookends to place around best sellers in the library.
Appointment Karen C. made a motion to appoint Monica Vorac to a six-year term on the Library Board. Lee seconded the motion and by roll call vote, all members in attendance voted “yes” to appoint.
Adjournment With no further business before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
