Board of Trustees Meeting
March 11, 2024
The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room A at the library on Monday, March 11, 2024. In the absence of Board President Karen Turner, Karen Cathelyn called the meeting to order at 6:25 p.m. Members in attendance were Lee Fluck, Jim Henson and Monica Vorac.
Citizen's Input David Jost was present as an observer.
Secretary's Report The minutes from last month's meeting stand approved as printed.
Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid Monica moved to pay the current bills. Jim seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted "yes" by roll call vote. Lee moved to approve the Financial Report. Monica seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted "yes" by roll call vote.
Happenings at the Library Claire received a $1,000 training grant from RAILS; subsequently, the library will be closed on May 31 for staff training. A local Boy Scout troop has volunteered to weed the property as a community service project. A donation of $3,331 from the Bill & Susan Sherrard Foundation was received in order to fund the summer reading program "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten."
Building There have been complaints that the parking lot is too dark. Verstraete Electric has given us a bid to add five new light poles.
Reading Garden This item will be addressed at a later date with the full board in attendance.
NEW BUSINESS
Outdoor Lights The Board voted to pay Verstraete Electric for the installation of new LED lights in the hall to replace the failing ones and also to install the additional light poles in the parking lot.
Audit Jim Luikart voiced concerns about who will do future audits as the accountant who has done it for us for many years is leaving his current firm. Inquiries are being made to other accounting firms.
Technology Lee from IronClad IT gave a brief description for Phase 4 of the Technology Update, the purchase of new computers to be used by the public. Monica made a motion to accept the plan and Karen C. seconded the motion. All members in attendance voted "yes" by roll call vote.
Update/Children's Room A few items for consideration were discussed but will be reviewed in more detail next month.
Adjournment With no further business before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 7:19 p.m.
