November 2024 Board Meeting

Board of Trustees Meeting
November 11, 2024

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room A at the library on Monday, November 11, 2024.  In the absence of Karen Turner, Karen Cathelyn called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.  Members in attendance were Lee Fluck, Jim Henson, Janet Klavohn and Monica Vorac.

Citizen’s Input   

Christine Illichmann, Elizabeth Schuler and David Jost were present.

Secretary’s Report   

The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.  

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid 

Monica moved to pay the current bills.  Jim seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.  Jim moved to approve the Financial Report. Monica seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.  

Happenings at the Library   

Claire received a grant from the Illinois Arts Council. Kathi Fluck reported on a Butterfly Garden, that will be adjacent to the Reading Garden and will provide many educational experiences for young and old. The north section of the parking lot will be repainted soon. Next year, the rest of the lot will be painted. This is done every three years.  The Kiwanis/AARP will assist with tax preparation again this year; appointments will not be taken until after January 1 and they will be here only on Mondays. 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Reading Garden
Pat Mahar suggested getting bids for the vestibule now and pouring the concrete in the spring.   Four area contractors will be asked to bid.
 
Tax Levy
Was voted on last month and will be sent to Barb Link.
 

NEW BUSINESS

Imagination Library
Kathi reported that 30 children are registered and enrollment continues (in person). A list of the books each group will receive was reviewed.  Monica asked that all the schools be notified so students with younger siblings will be made aware of this program.

With no further business before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 6:58 p.m.
