Board of Trustees Meeting
October 10, 2022
The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room A at the library on Monday, October 10, 2022. Board President Karen Turner called the meeting to order at 6:29 p.m. Members in attendance were Karen Cathelyn, Lee Fluck, Janet Klavohn, Carol Luciani and Ray Rogers.
Citizen’s Input No citizens were in attendance.
Secretary’s Report The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.
Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid Ray made a motion to pay the current bills. Karen C. seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote. Ray moved to approve the Financial Report. Karen T. seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.
Happenings at the Library The parking lot was resealed and painted. The library will now get $10,000 more on the Corporate Replacement Tax. Claire went to Chattanooga, Tennessee as the Illinois representative for small libraries. It was paid for by the Association of Small Libraries. It has been requested that the curb at the end of the parking lot (near St. Malachy’s parking lot) be cut to allow for easier access for special needs students who come from the junior high. Pat Mahar drew up a plan in which a ramp is incorporated for safety.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Roof Claire has received many compliments on the roof. The roofing company is deducting $1500 from their bill due to the three-month delay (because of their error).
Bookends - sale Sheilah Wigant-McGee brought the bookends she is sculpting. It was decided to sell them for $75/pair.
NEW BUSINESS
Reading Garden Claire asked that the Board authorize the purchase of 12 trees (7 maples and 5 evergreens) from Steve’s Nursery. The maple trees will be for the proposed reading garden; the evergreens will help the windbreak near our property line by Woodridge. Karen C. made a motion to purchase them, Lee seconded the motion and all members present voted “yes.” Pat Mahar will call Steve’s Nursery to coordinate this.
Executive Session The Board went into executive session at 7:34 pm. No business was transacted. At 8:05 pm they came out of executive session.
Adjournment With no further business before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 8:13 p.m.
