Happenings at the Library Claire stated that several people had made some generous donations to the library in different forms: money towards large print books and contributions to the Reading Garden. She is in the process of applying for the Dolly Parton "Imagination Station" Library Program in which every child aged 0-5 years in Henry county that is signed up will receive a new book in the mail each month. Once the application has been approved, a news release will be sent out. A better explanation of projected costs for the Reading Garden will be added to the Go Fund Me page and to our webpage to assist patrons in better understanding the costs incurred in this project.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Children's Room A few parents have expressed a need for a larger children's area; this is in our long-range plan.
Reading Garden Pat Mahar presented color drawings of the garden. It was pointed out that the projected cost was an estimate that was intended to be high; Claire pointed out that many of the items included in the garden will be done at a reduced rate as "payment in kind" and the public should be aware that the projected cost will be reduced considerably upon completion.
NEW BUSINESS
Final Budget/Tax Levy Karen C. made a motion to accept the Final Budget/Tax Levy, which is to be filed in November. Monica seconded the motion and all members present voted "yes."
Dolly Books Our library is in the process of applying for this program in conjunction with the State of Illinois paying one-half of the cost for each child.
Adjournment With no further business before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 7:47 p.m.
