Geneseo Public Library District 
Board of Trustees Meeting 
September 9, 2024 

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room A at the library on Monday, September 9, 2024. Board President Karen Turner called the meeting to order at 6:26 p.m. Members in attendance were Lee Fluck, Jim Henson, Janet Klavohn and Monica Vorac. 

Citizen's Input: David Jost was an observer. 

Secretary's Report: The minutes from last month's meeting stand approved as printed. 

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid: Monica moved to pay the current bills. Janet seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted "yes" by roll call vote. Karen T. moved to approve the Financial Report. Monica seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted "yes" by roll call vote. 

Happenings at the Library: The Library purchased the database "Kanopy" for one year. It is a streaming service with movies, documentaries and kids' content with parental controls. The patrons are enjoying the upgrades on the computers. Miss Tina is so popular that she will now come to the library twice a month. Information about the Reading Garden has been sent out to over 33 groups, businesses and trusts. 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS 

Children's Room: Brightly colored chairs have been added.  

Reading Garden: Donations are starting to come in for this project.  

Fence: The fence has been installed and it looks great. 

NEW BUSINESS 

Tentative Budget: Karen T. made a motion to accept the Tentative Budget; Monica seconded the motion and all members present voted "yes." 

Funding: It was suggested that we use the online tool "Go Fund Me" to accept donations for the Reading Garden. Jim made a motion to set up a GFM account; Janet seconded the motion and all members present voted "yes." 

Petitions:  The names on the ballots in the November election for Library Board Trustee will be shown according to when the signed petitions are returned to the library, not in alphabetical order.

Adjournment: With no further business before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
